Alice Young,   Thanks for your question.   Swollen legs and feet (edema) is a common side effect of treatment with Norvasc (amlodipine).  Dizziness and vision changes are also side effects that can occur with this drug.  In some cases the dizziness and blurred vision are due to low blood pressure, so having your Mother's blood pressure checked prior to raising her dose would be a good idea.  High blood pressure does not cause the edema in patients on Norvasc.    I suggest you speak with your primary care doctor for some direction.  It would be best for him/her to speak with the cardiologist and come up with a plan that they both agree on - a plan that would be in your Mother's best interest.    I hope this has been helpful.  Best wishes.   Martin Cane, M.D.
