gas pain on left side around heart area
i have been getting pain on left side under and around heart area,,and BIG increase on blupping,,EGK SHOWS NOTHING EXCEPT TACHACARIDIA FROM PAIN,also have SOB increase, have asthma/broncituis,but no coughing,or bringing up any thing.i take singular, floridil, ventalin inhaler, persantin, acute sinistuis.i live in alexandria ,egypt
What is blupping? Also, do you also have a dx of atrial or ventricular fibrillation? I am having pain as you are describing. Was in the hospital observed and tested for a heart attack, it was not. The pain comes and goes. Have been told it is costachondritis, but there really is no tenderness when they do the examination. I am frustrated and scared. I feel like I'm crazy. Stress is always questioed as the overall answer to unknown dx ya know? I have been under less stress this past year than ever before. What else have you done to find answers? Or have you gotten a dx ?

went to dr. today regarding my response to your question. Dr. thinks it might be GERD. Taking Nexium for 3 days to see if the symptoms subside. I never had any burning sensation in my esophogus so it seems strange that it is gastro. Doc says the heart sits on top of the stomach that actually wraps around to the left and under the breast area where I am feeling the pain. does this make sense to anyone? Hopefully it works!

I experience the same symptoms - and I haven't found a single medical professional that seems to understand that the pain we feel IS (if not the heart itself) so closely associtated with its proximity that it FEELS like the heart.
My wife is a former cardiac nurse and suggests its either angina or stomach. My response is that if it is angina...then why does it disappear almost immediately with a "burp" expelling "gas"...and it definately is NOT, repeat NOT my stomach. I DO know the difference.
So...we will have to keep trying to find a medical professional who has a better explanation than 'it's angina' or our stomach or gallbladder or any of the other explanations we are getting.
I know "gas" doesn't put pressure the heart per se...but there is SOMETHING that is associated with stomach "gas" causing the very legitimate pain in such close proximity to the heart if FEELS like the heart. Perhaps there is a neurlogical connection of a pain receptor near something that comes in contact with it because of the slight "inflation" from the "gas" - that is immediately withdrawn when the "gas" is expelled with a "burp".
I'll watch to see if anyone has a better explanation than what I and others are getting.

I am having the same. I am releived with a burp. Two years ago I had my gall bladder removed so it isn't that. I have a hernia though and associate the burping with that. This is the first time I have had bad heart pains. they only last a couple of seconds. Last night I ate a lot of onions so I think it might be associated with that. Do you notice it while eating a perticular food?
I have been to the doctor in the past and to the emergency room for it to turn out to be nothing. I hate to go again and it is nothing.
I too am having Severe pains. They hit with no warning, as soon as they hit they are gone. It feels like a lightning bolt passes through me. most of the time it is a single shrill pain either behind my left shoulder blade or most commenly behind and just beneath my left breast. on a scale of one to ten I rate the pain as a ten! If it were to last any longer than a split second I do believe I would hit the floor.
I have been to several Drs, each with thier own vague opinion.
In the onset, I was having problems with acid reflux and a deep aching pain all the way across my diaphram. I have had an abdominal cat scan, which came back fine.
I have one Dr saying it has to be my Gall Bladder, which makes no sense being I am hurting on my far left side. I have had a gastro tell me to lay off fiber and switch to non lactose products. Which I have done and really seems to have helped with acid and gas. I recently had a chest xray to check my lungs, it was fine. An EKG to check my heart and all it showed was a slow heart beat from a med I am taking for my A-FIB.
And last thing was a blood test to check for any possible blood clots in the lungs. Still have not heard back on that.
I can not predict when these pains will hit, however any small excercise will bring on a quick and deep soreness in the muscles in this area.
I do suffer from fibromyalgia, and a Dr seems to think that people with this disorder are more likely to feel stomache pains more intense.
I feel for the most part it just has to be muscular, but then I wonder how a muscle can produce such a shrill and fast pain. could this be just as simple as gas pains? and muscle pains? If so, why? and what can I do to make it better?

I have had Left Side Abdominal pain that radiates up to the chest/heart area. I have been to too many Drs to count, had too many tests to count. They came up with IBS. Uhhh, no. The sharp pain and or dull ache in my chest only happens at rest. My stomach is left upper abdominal which is sharp also.
Now they are telling me it is my back. I was diagnosed with cervical Stenosis over a year ago and as my symptoms of that worsen (because noone ever did anything or told me what I should or shouldnt do) the stomach/chest problems do too.
Does anyone have a back problem? Has anyone had their back/neck checked for herniations etc? Apparently nerves can be affected in the neck to many areas of your body. Im waiting on an appointment with a Neurosurgeon. All I want is for the pain to stop and for someone to find the problem. Ive even had a lovely Dr tell me it was in my head. He of course was never paid after I drove over 100 miles for a five minute visit where he told me it was in my head.
We are NOT crazy people. We just cannot find any DRs that care enough to help us find relief.

You have to check out this website: http://www.fibermenace.com/ First it doesn't make any sense, because you have heart problems, but since they think it might be back pain related...
Pericardium and Pericarditis
What is the pericardium?
The pericardium (pair"e-KAR'de-um) is the thin sac (membrane) that surrounds the heart and the roots of the great blood vessels.
What is pericarditis?
Pericarditis (pair"e-kar-DI'tis) is inflammation of the pericardium. The pericardium has an inner and outer layer with a small amount of lubricating fluid between them. When the pericardium becomes inflamed, the amount of fluid between the two layers increases. This squeezes the heart and restricts its action.
Who gets pericarditis and what does it feel like?
This problem occurs most often in men ages 20 to 50. Chest pain is common, especially pain behind the breastbone. Sometimes this pain spreads to the neck and left shoulder. Pain from pericarditis is different from angina (AN'jih-nah or an-JI'nah). (Angina is chest pain or discomfort due to reduced blood supply to the heart muscle.) Angina feels like pressure, but pericarditis usually is a sharp, piercing pain over the center or left side of the chest. Often this pain gets worse if the person takes a deep breath. Less often the pain is dull. A fever is also common. Often people with pericarditis report feeling sick. Some have pain when they swallow.
What causes pericarditis?
In most cases, why pericarditis occurs is unknown. However, it can result from one or more of these:
- a viral, bacterial or fungal infection
- heart attack
- cancer spreading from a nearby tumor in the lung, breast or the blood
- radiation treatment
- injury or surgery
Sometimes it accompanies rheumatoid arthritis, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus) (e-rith"eh-mah-TO'sus) and kidney failure.
How is pericarditis treated?
Analgesics or anti-inflammatory drugs are given to relieve pain. Antibiotics are also prescribed if the pericarditis is due to a bacterial infection. If excess fluid is seriously affecting the heart's action, a needle may be used to draw it off. In some cases surgery may be required.
Acute inflammatory pericarditis usually lasts one to three weeks and doesn't lead to further problems. About 20 percent of pericarditis patients have a recurrence within months or, rarely, within years.

Pericarditis is a very good example of a lot of the pain I am experiencing. I am 23 I take a beta blocker for my irregular heartbeat I have the burning in my esophagus but it does not always accompany this sharp pain that shoots through the left side of my chest. I have had ekg and strees tests blood tests all have revealed nothing abnormal. I have had some concern that I may have testical cancer blood results show nothing but I have quite a few masses, I am curently waiting for a ultra sound. I usually get a headache when I have these pains which last for several days on end the headaches are better with rest. So I am going to mention this when I go to my next appointement
gas pain on left side around heart area
i have been getting pain on left side under and around heart area, more in the abdomond than in the chest. I also have a heart murmur and sleeping disorder. Two years ago I had AFIB and will remain on high blood pressure and medicine for AFIB.

For the last week or so, I have been in terrible condition. This problem of whether it is gas or Heart problem has made my life miserable. It was on my left side. Seems that it was a heart problem and I was almost convinced that it was a heart attack.
Ran through to the emergency in hospital, they did all my ECG/Troponin Blood test/Blood Pressue all seems fine but the pain still there. Thought that it may be because of a kidney stone (as I had one earlier), got X-rays for Abdomen and Chest, all seemed fine. Prescribed by the doctor to take an Acid removal tablet. Has been better since. The doctor said it is called 'Dispepsia' which is a sort of a stomach disorder.

i thought i was the only one having the same problem......did anyone find any solution? i didnt....the dr said it might get better by itself IN A FEW YEARS TIME!!!!
