I was wondering what is the best foods to eat for heart patients. I have a stint, enlarged heart and a ICD . And I keep putting on alot of weight in a short amount of time.
Thank you very much Ken
Here are basic guidelines for a heart healthy diet:
1. Reduce saturated and trans fats with healthy unsaturated fats.2. Eat a diet high in fiber, especially soluble fiber.3. Make fish and sources rich in omega 3 fatty acids a routine part of your diet.4. Limit high sodium/salt foods.
Speak with your MD for specific instructions to foods or minerals you may need more of or need to avoid due to medications or your specific condition.
