Quick question. I have had a few experiences where after physical exertion my heart rate will stay elevated for a few minutes. For instance, the other night after two beers, I woke up in the middle of the night and carried my daughter to bed. On the way I could feel my heart working harder, and then it seemed to really elevate to about 150 bpm. It stayed that way for about a minute and then went slowly down over a minute. I had another episode in the gym the cardiologist attributed possibly to fluid intake where after lifting it stayed elevated for about 10-15 minutes 150BPM and slowly went down.
Typically during exercise my heart rate will drop 50-70 bpm first minute. I have had all the test (echo, EKG, stress, Event monitor) and all clear. 33YR male non smoker.
Question, has anyone had a prolonged elevated heart a few minutes after physical exertion occasionally, and is this normal? (never had it when I was in my 20's). No symptoms besides a bit of dry mouth and breathing heavier like when exercising. I do know I get occasional tachy when drinking alcohol in the middle of the night, not excessive a few beers.
