Hi weza,
Lifestyle changes and/or medications can be helpful for lowering LDL and increasing HDL. Talk to your physician about whether medication would be an option for you and use these diet tips:
For lowering LDL, minimize your saturated fat intake, eat lots of soluble fiber, eat foods rich in plant sterols like beans, nuts, avocado, etc. and work to lose weight if you are overweight.
For supporting HDL levels, exercise regulary, eat healthy plant based fats like olive oil and nuts and eat omega-3 rich fish 2 times a week (ex. salmon, tuna, trout, etc.).
Best Regards,
Karen McPartland, RD
