Q: is it possable for zestril to intract with wellbutrin and ibuprofen.

I have been on wellbutrin xl 300mg for the last 3 months at the same time my doctor put me on ibuprofen 800mg 3x daily. last week i went into er with a high bp and the doc there put me on zestril 10mg. they also informed me that i had an enlarged left ventrical. now my question is my meds going to interact with each other. it is almost like the zestril is contdicing the wellbutrin, i am emotionally back to where i was when i first started the meds. i see my doc tomarrow but i am worried because i have been having really sharp pains like a needle is being stuck in my heart. my resperation has been up to 103 and that is at rest. it is usually 75-85bpm. so any advice would be helpful.

Hi Snowolf83607,

There are no major interactions between wellbutrin, ibuprofen, and zestril. It is possible that the discovery of your health conditions has caused you to go back to feeling the same way you did before starting the Wellbutrin. As for your chest pain, I would talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

Thanks for your question!

This is something you DEFINITELY need to ask the doctor.  The internet is not the correct forum for questions like this--it is too complicated, and you don't know who you are corresponding with.  You also need to clearly explain EVERYTHING you are experiencing and when.  Good to keep a journal, as it makes  it easier to remember what to bring up.

Thanks for your question.  I thought  you would like to read the drug information on both zestril and wellbutrin.

Zestril: This drug belongs to a group of medications called ACE inhibitors. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children 6 years of age and older. It works by relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. High blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.

Wellbutrin: Bupropion is used to treat depression. It can improve your mood and feelings of well-being. It may work by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in your brain.

Hope this helps and all the best, sue

There can be some interaction between bupropion (Wellbutrin) and lisinopril (Zestril).  Wellbutrin can have some effects on the chemical makeup in the brain and can cause a (usually) small decrease in blood pressure.  While the Zestril is being used for blood pressure, it can drop it too much, which might explain the reason for the increased heart rate.  Together these medications can cause additive effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, or a drop in blood pressure particularly when getting up from a sitting position.  Notify your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing.
