Q: risk of smoking after aortic valve replacement surgery.

Hello,

My mom had smoked 3 packs a day all her life.  She quit the first of this year. She had aortic valve replacement surgery on february of this year with a mechanical valve.  She is taking 5mg of coumadin everyday and doing fabulous.  I recently suspected she started smoking lightly but am not 100% sure of it.  I know she needs to stop for good and will do whatever I can to help her achieve that.  I understand all the risk related to smoking but my question is if the risk is higher to her heart after the surgery she's had and taking the coumadin?  I would appreciate any information on this subject.  Thanks in advance.
