Monday, September 12, 2011 confused789486 asks

Q: I had bypass surgery last Oct. ,10.5 mmonths ago,. My sternum has caused increased pain. I have had 2 ct scans of my chest. 1st-checking on my partial collaspsed lung. 2nd. check on spots on rt lung.

On both 1st -it showed the sternum in 4 pieces. 2 pieces you would expect. The sternum was cut down the middle expected, but there is a break under the 1st and 2nd segment of the sternum all the way through and ragged. No one is making mention of this finding since they are not reading the ct for that problem. It seems like no one wants to be the one to bring it to anyones attention, in the mean time I am in severe pain and can barely use my arms. What can be done at this late date since the end of the bones would not mend if put together?

Hi confused789486,

I'm sorry to hear about your sternum pain.  You should discuss this with your cardiologist or general physician so that you can get some guidance on what should be done or what needs to be done regarding your sternum concern.

Best Regards,
