Hi P. Harrison,

The generic name for Benicar is olmesartan.  Definitely work with your physician to determine which generic form would be an appropriate substitute for you.

A patent currently prohibits any generic olmesartan from being manufactured.  How do you claim to be an expert??

Yet, if you search the Internet for "generic olmesartan" or "generic Benicar," you may find a number of companies selling it. The fact is that these medicines are fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous. You should not buy any generic olmesartan until an approved generic form is available

that's your answer...talk to your doctor?  There are several generics that are in the same class as Benicar but they have slightly different side effects so they are not all the same.  Google side effects for generic ARB's and you can find the differences easily on your own.
