Tuesday, October 06, 2009 Audrey asks

Q: My husband gets pain from left wrist up into shoulder and under shoulder blade.

the pain is worse when he is sitting down. He passed out in church last week...got taken to the health centre, had Xrays and ecg, blood work...nothing showed up, but he still has the pain.Do I get a referral to a cardiologist, a gastro person? Who? We had planned a trip..now I am nervous about leaving home . He is 87. He has arthritis but says this is very different from arthritis pain.

Hi Audrey,

Yes, I recommend discussing your options with his physician, including a referral to see a cardiologist.
