Wednesday, April 01, 2009 Jack McGill asks

Q: No shortness of breathe but experiencing aching feeling at night in my left arm

Occasion tingling in my fingers on my left hand. Male age 52.

Family history - my brother suffered a fatal heart attack while playing racquetball. His only signs were pain in his arm and heart burn.

Four years ago I had a full cardiac workup (treadmill, ekg) and was given a clean bill of health.

Obviously I am concerned and would like your opinion if I need to see my physician.

Hi Jack,

With your family history I say it's worth consulting your physician. . . if for nothing else, peace of mind.  Any time you're concerned, there's nothing wrong with calling and speaking with your physician's nurse.  The nurse will be able to evaluate the situation and determine if you need to schedule an appointment.

All the best,
