low blood pressure
Similar to a question already asked
My resting blood pressure is normally around 115/80 and pulse about 75, but when I stand up and even after walking or doing light outdoor work my blood pressure, while standing, has been measuring systolic 88-95 over 72 diasytolic with my pulse over 110.
My blood pressure goes back up to about 120/75 and pulse 70-72 if I take it as soon as I lie down.
Is it normal for my pulse to drop that quickly and BP to rise?
It doesn't seem which I take 1st, resting then standing or standing then lying down the results have been similar.
Is this something to be concerned about?
Can this be related to something other than heart like hormones?
Theresa,
Thanks for your question. The change in your blood pressure and pulse seems consistent, but the important issue is whether your are having any symptoms such as lightheadedness, dizziness, or shortness of breath? If you are having symptoms, then further evaluation is definitely needed by your physician.
Your change in blood pressure and pulse is not considered drastic. There are many factors to consider when there is a significant change: the person's physical condition (from an exercise point of view); age; underlying medical conditions such as anemia, lung or heart disease; medication; weight; and many others.
If there is concern, then you should see your physician for his evaluation and input. Better to be safe at this point, and get a checkup. If a problem exists, then finding it early is always best.
Thank you.
