Hi Marie,

I would contact a physician as soon as possible; chest pain is not something to wait on as it can be a number of serious things. To evaluate your symptoms before seeing the doctor, take a look at our chest pain symptom checker. Please check back and let us know how you're doing!

i have also had that same problem. my chest actually swelled up on me. i went to emergency and they werent really helpful at all. i looked it up online and theres a condition called chostochondritis that has these symptoms. chostochondritis is actually very common, its cause from an inflamation in the cartilage that lies between the rib cage and breast plate and usually occurs on the left side for some reason. it is most common in men but women do get it. unfortunately, theres nothing a doctor can do for chostochondritis because its uncurable, but nsaids and anti-inflamatorys usually help. i would definitely see a doctor though when you can. i hope this helps and everything turns out for the best.
