Q: 3mos of taking 650 mg of iron my level is still at 32- no known contributing health reason - ideas?

My neurologist failed to tell me two years ago that my blood test results showed an iron level below the bottom range number... I was trying to be a proactive patient and obtained copies of my medical records when I found out about the deficiency

My new internist started me on 325 mg of iron - twice a day - and after three months my number has only increased from 29 to 32.  I'm caucasian, no known bleeding problems, I take monthly B12 shots to keep that number at an average level...  anyone have any ideas on what is causing the problem?  I've researched and possibly caffeine is blocking the iron absorption?
