The left ventricle (LV) is the chamber of the heart that is
charged with pumping blood through the body. When it is hypokinetic, it means it that the heart muscle fails to move
enough to pump adequately to meet the oxygen demands of the body. Diastole refers to the time that the heart is
“relaxed” and not contracting, giving it time to be filled with blood. When there is diastolic dysfunction, the
heart wall is “stiff” and does not relax enough, which may not allow for
adequate filling with blood. Both of
these issues should be raised with an experienced cardiologist.
