Q: Pain in chest centered above left breast.

I have had a pain in my chest for over two years now.  It is centered aboveof my left breast (armpit level). It hurts all the time, when I touch it it hurts even more.  I have had physical exam and doctors say they dont feel anything abmormal.  I have had an MRI and it shows nothing in this area.  I gave up caffine for a while and it didnt go away. What else can I do, just be be sure there is nothing abnormal going on?

Hi heart health concerned,

Generally if the pain gets worse when you touch it, I would not automatically suspect your heart since it is under skin, fat, and a rib cage.  However, I would not rule out anything until your physician has. You can ask him to do further workup on your heart or your lungs or even investigate if there is something muscular going on.

Best of luck,
