Q: I am 34 years old and i am waking up with my chest hurting. Chest doesnt hurt anyother time.

The pain goes away after an hour or so, but the pain is keeping me from sleeping through the night. If i sit up and sleep it does not hurt as bad. I like to sleep on my back, and my wife says thats why it hurts.

Hi Dhop1978:

New onset chest pain always requires evaluation by your doctor. If the pain is severe, you should seek immediate medical care.  So if you haven't been evaluated get evaluated. Chest pain is never something to take lightly, you never know if it is something life-threatening or not until you are evaluated.

Take care,

Tara

Symptom Checker

Some people have problems with acid reflux at night that presents itself as chest pain. I recommend discussing your symptoms at your doctors appointment to determine what tests are needed to diagnose the issue and determine appropriate treatment.
