Q: I have had an ache in my chest for several months. Clear chest xray a month ago.

I noticed pain in my chest about six months ago.  At the time, it seemed to ache more when I breathed in deeply.  I mentioned it to my doctor and he assumed it was pleuresy.  After it didn't resolve, I went back to the doctor who took an xray.  The lungs looked clear.  He prescribed a round of prednisone.  It still did not resolve.  I have not yet returned due, in part to a heavy work schedule.  Most of all though, I don't have a good insurance policy and won't have one for a couple of more weeks.  I was hoping to be able to secure more insurance, just in case, but I am imagining the worst.

Now I really can't say that the pain is the same as it was.  It doesn't seem to ache more when I breathe deeply, but aches rather constantly; especially when I lay on it.  I can press in on it and it is tender to the touch on the right side of my sternum.  I cannot feel any lumps.  I would say that the ache, though not severe by any means, seems to extend into my back, though it is not tender to the touch in my back.

Could this be heart related?

Hello,Im not an expert but do you rember possibly at your job or at home of possibly lifting someting possibly slightly heavy,or a possiblr fall where you might have landed wrong or bumped something if you did have a fall?I believe it is possible at times in certain cases that I've heard of people either lifings something heavy or not even really that heavy or possibly bending or twisting to get something they want to either pick off the floor some where or above thwm and by lifting even something light in cases where they may have been in a weird position that they pulled a Muscle somewhere .I have heard of cases i believe where you could possibly pull a muscle in your back mostly would be up maybe higher in your case or along their side along the rib cage that the Pains can radiate to the front of thw Body.I could be wrong in that but i did hear of such things.Or even a fall or even bending slightly and bumping their body some where fairly hard where it may bruise their muscle, and I had heard a Bruised Muscle can hurt as much if not more then a strain our possibly pulled muscle and all these I believe can last for quite awhile in some cases.Jim

If this continues, please consult another physician. Chest pains should never be ignored.
