On my recent drs visit, lab tests show my cholesterol level has elevated to 252.

I am a type 2 diabetic. Most of the lab results were good except for glucose (112) and ldl (175). Hdl actually decreased (55) from 3 mos ago. Have also been having serious leg cramps the past 4 mos. and was told to increase vit. D intake which did nothing for cramps. I now believe this is a side effect of the BP medicine (lisinopril hctz 10/12.5 mg) which I've been taking since Aug 2008. When I asked if there are meds. that cause cholesterol to increase, I was given a negative answer. My cholesterol increased from 230-252 over a 3-month period. What is the likelihood the BP meds. are causing my cholesterol level to rise? I am now being prescribed cholesterol medicine (pravastatin 40 mg). What to do???
