Q: I have developed hypertension after aortic valve replacement.

I was born with bicupsid aortic valve and was doing well with a low pressure 90/60 my whole life. Low pressure runs in the family. During third trimester I went into heart failure, had trouble breathing and fluid retention and was on a diuretic. Was told that after delivery would fell better, but felt worse. Oral diuretic weren't working and had to be readmitted for IV lasix. After removing alot of fluid felt great for three months. Started to have some chest discomfort and at that time was advised to have the aortic valve replaced. Two weeks later felt even worse, short of breath and lightheaded. Shortness of breath resolved but lightheaded persisted and later developed hypertension 159/100. Had several tests but no explanation. I am 35 and petite and HTN doesn't run in the family. Why am I hypertensive?
