Q: My ICD sugery was complicated but thank god I'm still here. Seeking possible answers.

My ICD surgery entailed complications resulting in my being one of the few to receive a punctured heart and cardiogenic shock? I think thats what I suffered. After all of this, I awoke twice while intubated and felt like I was drowning in my own fluids. The tubes were aggravating my gag reflexes. I believe I am suffering psychologically just as much if not more than the physical ramifications. (I am blessed to be here) I believe I really need an anti anxiety drug to help me especially at night. Is Psychiatrist the best route for this one? As far as my physician who performed this operation until the thoracic surgeon was called in, I don't believe he took the time to review pertinent info about me. He was basically in a rush that day and I am the end result.
