Q: I have triple bypass surgery 2 years ago, and after that, I catch cold very easily and I have been smelling burnt wire or stove for more than 10 days, is it normal to have different sensations?
My surgery was about 15 months ago.
I haven't had a cold yet, I didn't hear that we are more likely to get colds,
but i'm only 40yrs old, maybe age has something more to do with it.?
I was told that really cold and really hot weather will stress me now,
so I have been dressing better and avoiding the hot and cold as much as possible.
I swear I now smell things weird now and then, but I started smelling like that after the heart attack, even a few days before the bypass. I have heard of a couple of others (like us, CABG), talk about a funny smell too. When I smell it,
I know no-one else can smell it, and I don't know what the smell is? I can't even discribe it. I don't know if it's some new "super powers" I now have or my mind just being a little bit crazy after all it's been through. lol
Hi David,
People report changes in sense of smell that may be related to aging, conditions affecting the nasal passages, changes in the sense of taste, and other causes. If you're concerned you should consult your physician.
