Thanks for your question.  Procardia (nifedipine) is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes smooth muscle, especially in small to medium sized arteries.  It is usually used in the treatment of high blood pressure and coronary artery disease, but has some other uses including premature labor.  Unlike some blood pressure medications, there is no rebound effect when you discontinue procardia.  This means that blood pressure will not rise to unusually high levels when you stop this medication.   As pregnancy can cause high blood pressure, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on your pressure while withdrawing from the medication.  Certainly, keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and blurred vision which should be reported to your doctor immediately.
