I forgot to mention, I'm not sure how long this would last on its own, but whenever I get that sharp pain, I would put my left hand into a fist and hit that area a few times, like how people pound their chest when they eat something difficult to swallow. The pain I get lasts maybe 5-10 seconds because this is what I always do to make it go away. I hit area right below my left chest on the side a couple of times. I'm not sure if it's good for my body to be doing that, but it works.
