Aspirin works as an anticoagulant. It breaks down the clotting factor in the blood and is loosely referred to a a "blood thinner". Sometimes, aspirin is ordered by a physician for a person to take on a daily basis as a protection against heart attack and stroke. After a blood screening, a physician will oder the dosage necessary to compliment the persons blood chemistry.
It is not recommended for people to take an aspirin daily without checking with their physician first as other medications could counteract the effects of aspirin.
If you are prescribed a daily dose of aspirin you may need to take another type of analgesic (pain reliever), such as Tylenol, for a headache or other discomfort.
