Saturday, February 14, 2009 Willie asks

Q: atrial fibrillation, cause-drinking, cause is stopped, prognosis? , complete recovery possible?

male, age 65, average l bottle wine in an evening 4 to 5 nights a week for 20 years.

3rd episode, first diagnosis.  Imaging showed no clot. Had to shock heart to resume normal rhythm.  On strong blood thinners.  Many restrictions including no drinking of alcoholic beverages, limited green veg., no shaving, no power tools, etc...

Am otherwise in good health, great muscle tone, regular exercise program included 150 push-ups, etc...

If I follow the program, what are my chances of complete recovery, removal from blood thinner except for daily asprin.  Resumption of no more than one glass of wine with evening meal.  My normal diet has been heavy with green veg.  which keeps elimination regular.  Resumption of regular exercise program?
