Saturday, February 20, 2010 Ruby Davis asks

Q: I've had 4 heart stents within one year. I wanted to know how many is too many stents in heart

I've had 2 stents put in my arteries this week.  One of them was 80% blocked.

About 9 mos ago I had 2 other stents put in. This is the  first time I've had

any problems with my heart.  I am diabetic for 20yrs and on insulin pump; about 250 units per day.

Hi Ruby Davis,

 

Here is some information about stents that may help answer your question.

I also encourage you to speak with the cardiologist or surgeon who placed the stents.  The physician will also have a better idea of your heart and what he/she thinks you may be able to handle.

Hi Ruby,

 

In my opinion, one stent is too many. Stents are a patch job for a more serious problem...artery and vain blockage.  Keep your circulatory system working properly and stents will not be necessary.
