I want to see if anyone has experience with this. I'm a 41 year old male and weight appropriate. My blood pressure and cholesterol a little higher than ideal, and high enough that my GP thinks I should medicate yet. My only issue is I suffer from migraines. Heart disease is very common in my family. And in fact, my father had a fairly serious heart attack at 42, and three out of four grandparents had heart disease.
Since my dad had a heart attack at 42 and one grandfather had one at 43, heart disease crosses my mind more as I approach those ages. Today, I received results back on a brain MRI my neurologist ordered. It noted that I have "small vessel atherosclerosis advanced for pt's age." If I'm having that condition in my brain vessels, would that necessarily mean I likely have it in my heart? I'm wondering if it would be advisable to get a cardiologist. My experience has been people engage a cardiologist AFTER a heart attack. Just would like some opinions of some people.
