I am a 55 yr old female, with severe atherosclerosis, I think I need another cardiologist opinion
need to know if I should get another cardiologist opinion, I want to live and are scared my doctor is making wrong decision. I have a family history of coronary artery disease. I am a 55 year old physically fit female who eats a non fat diet, but have been diagnosed with atherosclerosis, calcium claudition, and have visual pulsating lump in carotid vein, doctor hears noise in carotid, but makes no comment other than she hears something. My liver over produces cholesterol and at one point, she mentioned chelation. However, she refuses to look at inner thigh artery leg pain and calf pain when sitting for periods of time, nor entertain the idea of carotid bypass. My family has had leg bypass, heart bypass, neck bypass. They did well after these surgeries. My mother lived to 87 with her first heart bypass at 59 years old. I am on a very low dose 2.5 statin crestor (I suffered severe muscle pain) take fish oil, 325 mg asprin, niaspan, and zetia.
The question: my doctor says she will see me in another year......isn't there anything I can do to help my situation now or is it hopeless. I am getting depressed over it.
