Q: radiation verses surgery for non small cell lung cancer

I have non small cell lung cancer, and also tumor in brain, I with trough radiatio on brain and the tumor is gone. I went through 6 sessions of chemo for lung. Tumor has shrunk to 3.6 cm x 1.5 cm. I am 57 and all the doctors say I am in a small group. that could have surgery. I am wondering why they would want me to have surgery instead of radiation?

Hi Ken Leigaber,

You should discuss your question with your physician and consider seeking other opinions with physicians who typically treat your type of cancer if you feel the need.
