Q: breathing & sometimes sharp pain under ribcage around heart,somtimes have to try & yawn to take a de

heya hows a going i was wonder could you give me advice.i am 22 years old recently i have noticed that somtimes when i try to take a deep breath i cant and have to try yawn to take a deep breath.also somtimes when i take a breath i get a sharp pain around my left side wer chest and heart area is.it feels like i got stabbed and in order to breath properly i have to take a deep breath.the pain only lasts a few seconds.i have used stimulants in the past(legal highs)could this be the problem and do ya tink theres are serious wrong.i have read on medical forums about people who have the same symtoms and it dosent seem serious. also i excersise regurley and i heat healty enough,i would be very gratefull if you could help as i am worried i also have smoked for years

It's worth discussing with your physician and being evaluated to determine the cause and if treatment is warranted.

cheers for the reply,im just worried its my heart,by reading my story do you tink it could be my heart because by showing people wer the pain is they reckon its my chest,also it has started since i started smoking menthol ciggerettes and comes and goes especially after a weekend of partyin.

It's hard to say if it's your heart or not.  Of course, it is possible and you're not doing your heart any favors with the cigarettes (as I'm sure you already know).  The pain could due to a variety of different factors.  Best to work with your physician to determine the cause.
