Phillip,

A heart aneurysm could mean a multitude of things. It means the aneurysm is likely in the coronary arteries or the aorta. An aneurysm is defined a in increase in diameter of the vessel that includes all layers of the vessel wall. When this occurs, the wall is weakened and the patient is it risk for rupturing the aneurysm, which is very serious.

The aorta is the main artery coming out of the heart that delivers blood to the rest of your body. An aortic aneurysm is a serious condition that sometimes requires surgical repair, and certainly warrants a discussion with your doctor.

The coronary arteries are vessels that come off of the aorta and actually supply the heart muscle with blood. These are the arteries affected in heart attacks, also known as myocardial infarctions. Again, this is a serious condition that you should address with your doctor.
