Hi Irene,

 

A spirometry test is not difficult or painful.  Generally you'll be asked to take a deep breath and then exhale all your air into a device as hard and as long as possible.  The results are helpful for evaluating conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, COPD, etc.
