Q: I take daily dosages of Dapsone used to control dermatitis herpetiformis.

I know, through dosage experments, that Dapsone does cause the red blood cell counts to be lowered causing anemia.  Do you think that this issue is in any way related to creating a lower HDL (Last test:  HDL 26 mg/dl - LDL CALC 91 mg/dl - Triclycerides 151 mg/dl)?

Hi Zoie,

I am not certain that the Dapsone has anything to do with your low HDLs. To my knowledge, low HDLs are not associated with a low red blood cell count. However, you may be interested in reading about ways to improve your low HDLs.
