Friday, July 10, 2009 norma asks

Q: I had 4 by pass and heart valve replaced. Dr put me on Lasix and ONLY my left foot is swollen. Why

I had 4 by pass and heart valve operation 2 yrs ago.  My Dr put me on Lasix, 80 mg a day.  I have a kidney dr watching my kidneys also.  My left foot is swollen, no where else.  What's going on?

Hi Norma:  Swelling of only one foot could be many things.  A blood clot in the let, the beginning of heart failure in the foot where your bypass veins were taken out, something called a baker's cyst, varicose veins, or even something happening in the abdomen.

 

It's best to seek medical attention for this since it could possibly be serious. Have your doctor look at your foot or consider more immediate care.  Don't ignore this problem.
