Q: My father needs surgery but has congestive heart failure.

Needs surgery to remove a melanoma and to explore lymph nodes for more cancer.  He has congestive heart failure and I am wanting to know if there are other options that might be less stressful than putting him under a General.

Doctors will be preforming test to check his heart and the like ... but i am wanting some idea of what we are looking at.

He needs the surgery, but they don't think his heart can handle it.

I also have CHF at age 72. Only last week did I have invasive surgery on a Hernia. The Dr who did the job, told me I was too fragile to undertake a general, but would give me somthing to take away the stress of the local and gave me a drip. I was asleap before

I was on the table and woke up in recovery. Go for it and good luck.
