Q: chest pain

i'm getting sharp chest pains there from my chest to my left arm and fingers,i'm 25 am i to young to be having a heart attack?they started about 5 days ago i woke up and was having the worst pain in my chest like someone had punched me,then the pain went into my arm and my fingers were tingleing like i had pins and needles.i don't think there is a family history of heart disease in my family,what could this be...i want to go to the hospital but i don't want to go if its nothing.

Hi Katie,

 

Unfortunately individuals in their 20's do have heart attacks even though it is not common.  Another possible cause for heart attack like symptoms is high levels of anxiety/panic attacks.  I recommend you contact your physician as soon as possible to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
