Hi Wanda,
Yes, you can reverse coronary heart disease by following a well-balanced heart healthy diet. For example, a diet high in omega 3 fatty acids reduces blood pressure, lowers triglycerides, improves heart rhythm, and increases HDL cholesterol. Including plant sterols in your diet helps lower LDL cholesterol. The oxidation of LDL is what leads to arterial plaque deposits and narrowing of coronary arteries. A diet that includes plant sterols will help reduce LDL levels, lower rate of LDL oxidation, and prevent narrowing of arteries. Do this in conjunction with a diet high in omega 3's to reverse plaque build-up in arteries. This is just one example of how diet choices can reverse heart disease.
