how long does your body have to be at rest to get a true at rest heart rate ?

Because I am doing a lab In AP biology (college level class in high school) and we were testing heart rate mine was 85 BPM but I had just came from dance class.

Hello,As a person with Heart problems,I would say if you came from a dance class and your rate was only 85 BPM.I would think you have a Health Heart,If not i would expect your Heart Rate to be alot higher after excersize like that,I would think the time would depend on what you had been doing,walking/versus excersize,Im no expert but after excersize Iwould think possibly about 20-30 minutes.Jim
