Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Mrs Deville asks

Q: is there such thing as too youg for a heart attack? (women)

I am 23 years old of age and have been living with panic attacks for about 7 years now. About a month ago i began feeling a weird pressure-like feeling on the left side of my chest. I am scared that it can be early signs of  a heart attack. Due to that i have avoided foods that may make me feel sick such as red meat, soda, sugary drinks, coffee,  fatty foods and fried foods. Could it be early signs of a heart attack or is it just my panic attacks that are out of control?

Mrs. Deville,

Since you have a history of panic attacks and - from what you've written - it looks like you take good care of yourself, I would not suspect heart attack.

They symptoms of heart attack in women can also differ from the "typical" signs of heart attack (more common in men). For more information about the symptoms of heart attack in women check out these resources:

I would follow up with your doctor and discuss these new symptoms.
