Q: I am wondering if my resting pulse/heart rate is normal or is a concern and what may be causing it

I am a 51 y/o male, 5'8" and 200lbs.  I live a semi-active lifestyle.  I have been noticing the I am very very tired all the time and have a lot of headaches.  Also, I feel out of breath very easily and have been feeling like my heart is just racing a mile a minute, even while I am just sitting or laying around.  The other night I felt like I had two grown men standing on my chest (about 400 pounds)... and my heart felt like it was racing, and I was winded all night as if I had been running a marathon, and I was just walking through the house, then laying down.  I decided to take my vitals and here they are:

BP while laying in bed:  8:30pm 186/129 pulse 98/ 9:00pm 153/99  pulse 98/ 9:40pm 152/99  pulse 96/ 9:50pm 146/94  pulse 96/ 11:10pm 180/113  pulse 92/ 11:35pm 186/127  pulse 96/ 11:50pm 205/135  pulse 92/ 1:40am
182/104  pulse 96/ 7:45am (woke up ) 147/92  pulse 96/ around midnight the next night 172/105 pulse 91/ 8:30am (waking up) 192/126 pulse 101

Is it true that a person's life can be shortened by a high heart rate?  I have heard that a person's heart will noly beat so many times in a lifetime, so if it beats fast, the life time will be cut short.  What medical condition occurs when you have a "high pulse" Or what could be causing this and what should he be doing about this? Thank you.
