Thursday, December 18, 2008 Marceil Hancock asks

Q: If I cannot take statins and have a lot of trouble with Wel-Chol what else is there?

My Drs. put me on every statin available and they hurt my hips so bad I cry.  I was then

prescribed Wel-Chol along with My omega 3 capsules.  The Wel-Chol is messing up my

stomach with all that gas and constipation.  I just getting over a lower back sprain and

muscle spasms.  My good cholestral is good, but my triclyserides are very high.  Is there

any thing else I can do.  I eat healthy, no sweets and I exersize in aerobics 3 hrs a week and in between I walk a mile on my treadmill.  I can't go faster at present because of my

back bothering me.

Hi Marceil,

Great job being physically active. Activity supports high HDL levels and low triglycerides. Two additional factors that have a significant impact on triglycerides are sugar and alcohol.

Check out this article steps that will help you lower triglycerides:

I recommend consuming an adequate level of omega 3's via your supplement and diet, so the omega 3 capsules are a good addition.

All the best,
