Q: long lasting chest pain

I have been having chest pain in the upper left side off and on for about a week now. It has been hurting, sometimes severely, for hours. I have been woken up by it at least once this week. I have swellening of my hands and ankles and have been getting very dizzy when I lay down. There doesn't seem to be any one thing that brings it on or makes it stop. I am a 56 yr old female with heart disease in my family. I have also been told I have mistral valve prolapse. Can that cause all the problems?
