Hi Ruby:

How recent was your heart catheter?  If it was fairly recent, the pain in your groin area could be something with the insertion site not healing properly. If this is the case, you need to call the performing doctor's office right away.

If it has been sometime since the heart catheters but you have occasional severe pain, you still need to visit with the doctor. It is hard saying what can be causing this pain without you being physically assessed. One thing post cath that may cause pain is scar tissue and/or it could be from the invasiveness of the procedure itself.

Take care,

Tara, RN
