Hi Rup16,
I suggest incorporating more brown rice into your diet and be sure to select 100% whole wheat products (flour, pasta, bread, cereals, etc.). This may mean adjusting your traditional meals, but it's worth it to prevent further health complications related to diabetes and high cholesterol. High fiber food choices, as well as high protein, help to slow the breakdown of carbohydrates into blood sugar. This is good, because you want to maintain a stable blood sugar, not suffer dramatic highs and lows that can be caused by a high intake of refined grain products. The extra fiber (especially soluble fiber) will also work to lower cholesterol.
That doesn't mean you cannot have any of your traditional meals. But moderation is always the bottom line. Watch the portion size, balance your carbohydrates with proteins, and opt for high fiber when possible.
All the best,
