Drugmaker Akorn has announced that it has received Food and Drug
Administration approval for a generic formula of the injectable
drug Cardizem (diltiazem hydrochloride). Cardizem is used to treat
both high blood pressure and chest pain. Akorn plans to begin sale
of the generic later this year.
