Four hours of non-stop travel doubles DVT risk

The World Health Organization (WHO) has found that a person's risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) doubles after just four hours of continuous seated travel. This is true whether the person travels by plane, bus, or car. The WHO also stated that taking two or more flights in succession over a short period of time also raises DVT risk. But experts say the absolute risk is still quite low--about one in every 6,000 passengers. Read more »
