Scientists work to create new hearts

Scientists are developing a way to create transplantable hearts made from a patient's own stem cells. The organ-building biotechnology--called whole organ decellularization--recently passed an important milestone in laboratory tests when researchers were able to create functioning heart tissue from the stem cells. So far, scientists have been able to create an entire pig heart, and scientists say they hope to create a human heart when they have perfected the organ-building technique. Read more »
