Ex-smokers lower stroke, heart risks

A study of more than 475,000 Korean men has found a significant decrease in stroke and heart attack risks among men who quit smoking. Researchers say that the risk of ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage and myocardial infarction were 40 percent to 60 percent lower in those who'd quit smoking compared to those who still smoked. Researchers also found that heavy and moderate smokers who cut down on cigarettes lowered their heart risks as well, but not by much. Read more »
