Canadian researchers have found that people with heart failure and sleep apnea have a higher risk of death than heart failure patients without sleep apnea. They found that people with moderate to severe sleep apnea who did not receive treatment had a death rate of 24 percent. The death rate was 12 percent for patients with no sleep apnea, and zero for people who used a breathing machine at night.
